Teach English and Learn Portuguese

Students can apply now to teach English and study Portuguese for three weeks at a prestigious university in Rio de Janeiro.

Interns can enjoy life in one of the most exciting and flamboyant cities in the world whilst being hosted in a student’s family home in a safe neighbourhood.

Students are being invited to study and teach at the 105-year-old Federal Centre for Technological Education in central downtown Rio de Janeiro. The group of up to 20 students have the opportunity to study and teach during July and August 2017 in Brazil, one year after it became the first ever South American country to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Portuguese classes are provided for 20 hours per week from Monday to Friday and all students are offered the opportunity to put their Portuguese into practice by volunteering in the community.

Accommodation is provided with students from the University and their families in safe and secure parts of Rio de Janiero (it is common in Brazil for university level students to live with their families) and you will be guaranteed a real carioca welcome. Participants make friends for life and often stay in contact long after the summer together.

University of Manchester graduate, Anthony Hawkins taught English in Brazil in 2016 with World City Links. He said: “I had a great time during my year in Brazil, first with the teaching internship and subsequently with the Olympic volunteering. I’ve gained experience for my CV as well as personal experience.”
